Law students are helping an elderly couple get help after Superstorm Sandy.
Joe and Anita Gaeta have lived in their Oakdale home for decades. Over the past few years, Anita suffered two strokes, followed by 12 seizures, leaving her paralyzed on the right side and unable to speak.
Joe says Anita enjoys watching the boats go by their riverfront home, but they've been living in a studio apartment since Sandy destroyed the home. He says it needs to be completely rebuilt now.
Joe reached out to Fidelity, his insurance company, but says he got the runaround. Eventually, he reached out to Touro Law School's Disaster Relief Clinic, which is run by about a dozen students.
Clinic Director Ben Rajotte says he expects the couple to see their money soon so they can begin rebuilding. The couple is owed about $200,000.
Fidelity has not returned calls for comment.
