Winds from Isaias thrash Long Island, but worst of storm is over

Long Island took a pummeling from Isaias' winds, though the heaviest of the rain was off to the west and the worst of the storm is over.

Winds from Isaias thrash Long Island, but worst of storm is over
Winds gusts were down to 45-50 mph as of 5 p.m. with winds diminishing to 20-30 mph by 7 p.m. Just a breeze is expected overnight.
The coastal flood warning has been canceled, as the storm surge did not occur with this evening's high tide. A coastal flood advisory is in effect for all of Long Island, with only minor flooding possible into morning.
