This holiday season will be a little brighter for some children in need thanks to a Nassau County police officer.
Officer Peter Ellison and his "elves" dropped off six boxes filled with toys for children at Winthrop University Hospital.
Officer Ellison has been involved with Toys for Tots for more than 30 years.
This year, he is picking up and dropping off a total of 50 boxes of toys throughout Nassau County.
The toys are donated by other officers, police department employees and residents.
Officer Ellison says he picks up 6,000 to 10,000 toys every year.
Donations can be dropped off at any police facility in Nassau County until Christmas Eve.
