Families helped to decorate the Fire Island Lighthouse Christmas tree Saturday with unique, handmade ornaments.
Organizers asked people to bring an ornament that relates to the sea, nature or the lighthouse to hang on the tree.
They say the tree decorating is part of the lighthouse's history.
Each year, the ornaments are used again to continue the tradition.
