The 21st annual Charles Dickens Festival kicked off Saturday in Port Jefferson, where the streets were transformed into the era of one of the most celebrated stories of all time, "A Christmas Carol."
The two-day event, which ends Sunday, hopes to draw thousands of visitors by the end of the festival.
This year's event features many favorites, including ice skating at the Village Center, a cappella performances by choirs and harmony groups, magic shows and many musical and theatrical street performances.
The festival will also feature Theatre Three's 33rd annual production of "A Christmas Carol."
Visitors can also submit their votes for the holiday window decorating contest in the lobby of the Port Jefferson Village Center. The contest runs through Dec. 12.
