After nearly a year without concerts, dates are set and tickets are being sold for live performances at the Jones Beach Theater for this coming summer.
Concert promoter Live Nation posted a lineup of rescheduled concerts from 2020 on its website and is selling tickets for the venue.
The first date is for Dave Matthews Band July 7. Other concerts include the Backstreet Boys, Steely Dan, Chicago, Matchbox Twenty, Jimmy Buffett and much more through the end of August.
The sales come after Gov. Andrew Cuomo gave the green light for sports and entertainments events in stadiums and arenas to open with limited spectators.
Doctors say concertgoers should remember the virus is still a threat, and masking and social distancing are key to staying safe.
"Any time people go to concerts there are places where they tend to congregate," says Northwell Health's Dr. Michael Grosso. "Tailgate parties for sure, food, concessions, the restrooms, any place where people tend to get crowded that's a danger zone. People need to take some individual responsibility, and the venues need to take their own steps in order to keep people safe."
The dates are music to the ears of music fans who have been waiting to see some of their favorite artists on stage for quite a while.
"I have cabin fever big time. So this is just going to feel like New Year's Eve or something," says Kata Reifert, who has tickets to Alanis Morisette's Aug. 29 show. "It's just going to be so exciting, I can't even wait."
News 12 reached out to Live Nation for comment on the series but has not yet heard back.
