Long Island was expecting some icy roads Friday evening into the weekend.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blake told residents to stay off the roads unless it was necessary.
Department of Public Works trucks were used to salt roads across the county.
Blakeman says although all roads should be salted, it is still dangerous and anyone driving needs to use extreme caution.
Oyster Bay resident Maria Vespi says that there was a sheet of ice already on her windshield early Friday evening.
"...It is getting colder, it's getting icier so definitely if everyone could just be careful out there," Vespi says. "I think it's going to get bad so just be careful. Always expect the worst, hopefully it's not so bad."
