More than 4,000 people showed up in Long Beach Sunday to take an icy dip in the ocean for the eighth annual Super Bowl Splash.
Participants came dressed in their team colors and showed plenty of pride. "I figure if the Giants could win an NFC championship in negative 20-degree weather, I can jump in the ocean when it's like 40 degrees out," a Giants fan said.
Besides having fun, the event raised money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Super Bowl Splash honors a little boy.
"Our son, Paul Bradley, was a 4-year-old boy who had a thing called neuroblastoma and Make-A-Wish was going to grant him a wish," said organizer Michael Bradley. "He passed on before the wish was granted."
