Thousands of runners across Long Island will be lacing up their sneakers for the Catholic Health Suffolk County Marathon. Races kick off Saturday, Oct 19 with a 5K family run and a one mile run for youngsters.
On Sunday, a full marathon, a half marathon and a 10K run will start at Deer Park and Railroad avenues in Babylon.
Marathon Weekend helps to raise money for local veteran organizations across Long Island.
Suffolk County has more veterans than any county in the state. We want to make sure veterans get the care and help they need," explained Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine.
Organizers hope to raise over $1 million during Marathon Weekend.
