A toddler was struck and killed by a vehicle Saturday afternoon in Mount Sinai, according to Suffolk County police.

Detectives say it happened on Maureen Drive at 12:42 p.m.

Authorities say a Ram 1500 struck the toddler on the driveway of a home. The toddler's 44-year-old mother and 43-year-old father were on the scene.

The toddler was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The circumstances that led to the crash or the toddler's age and gender were not immediately known.

Detectives ask anyone with information about the crash to call the Suffolk County Police Department Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
