The mother of Thomas Valva has rejected a $3 million settlement from Suffolk County.

Justyna Zubko-Valva filed a $200 million claim against the county and its Child Protectives Services, as well as the East Moriches Union Free School District and several others.

She claims that officials ignored years of warning signs that her son was being abused, beaten and starved.

The 8-year-old Center Moriches boy died of hypothermia in January 2020 after being forced his father and his father's fiancee to sleep in an unheated garage.

News 12 reached out to Suffolk County for comment and have not heard back.
