Plan your time right and visit area museums gratis, including the Cradle of Aviation Museum and the Long Island Children's Museum in Garden City or stop by the museum about Long Island, people and the sea -- the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum. National Public Lands Day Hike to Breach and Cleanup

Learn while lending a hand. Explore the dynamic dune line and beach on a 1.7 mile hike to the breach at Old Inlet. On the return trip, help clean the beach by collecting man made debris. Bring drinking water, dress for the weather and walking on sand. Meet at the Wilderness Visitor's Center.
