Neighbors in West Babylon woke up Friday morning to an unwelcome surprise when they found their cars without tires and rims.
Bill Collins, says he got up for work around 5 a.m. and when he went out to his wife's car it was up on blocks. Sometime overnight, thieves ripped off all four wheels of his wife's Honda Accord and left it on cinder blocks.
"Right in the driveway," says Collins. "My bedroom window is no more than 15 feet away. So very bold."
Collins isn't the only victim. Neighbors tell News 12 the thieves stole wheels and rims from five cars on 12th Street and other streets in the area in recent days.
Another victim says all four tires and rims were also stolen from her Honda Accord. She says she got the car less than a week ago.
Collins says he heard from a neighbor that the thieves had on ski masks and that they have done this type of thing before.
