Less than half of Americans surveyed plan to travel this summer due to high costs, according to a Bankrate report.
The report highlighted key statistics:
  • 45% of respondents plan to travel this summer.
  • 39% plan at least one U.S. trip.
  • 15% plan international travel.
  • 65% cite affordability as the reason for not traveling.
  • 23% lack interest in traveling.
  • 15% worry about plane safety.
  • 70% say everyday expenses, including airfares and hotels, make travel unaffordable.
Travel trends remain similar to last year. “It’s been a progression for the last couple of years,” said Derin Lisi, a travel agent with Rope Drop Travel.
Lisi says some of her clients now book Disney trips every few years instead of annually.
