New tests show alarming toxin levels in the soil beneath a Bay Shore home.

Thomas Honor, of Bay Shore, is worried about an underground toxic plume below his house that stems from an old LILCO plant just down the street. It was torn down years ago, but officials say it left behind some dangerous and potentially cancer-causing chemicals.

National Grid and the Department of Environmental Conservation have been trying to clean the site for years, but that cleanup may have created even more contamination.

Last month, a National Grid crew drilled a hole in the foundation of one of his neighbor's homes that caused a horrific odor and prompted more testing. The homeowner's son says they got the results last night. They say new tests show that the soil vapor beneath the basement contains toxins that are hundreds of times above normal background levels.

Now, neighbors are suing National Grid to finally get the site cleaned up.
