Some tenants in a Hampton Bays housing complex say their management company has been neglectful of their living conditions for years.
Tenants in Bishop Ryan Village, a subsidized housing community owned by Catholic Charities, say they have been complaining about broken appliances and mold.
They say Stanan, the complex management company, takes too long to get anything done. They say they had no choice but to form a tenants association to try to have their voices heard.
"We're only fighting for what we're entitled to," says Phyllis DiGregorio. "We're entitled to have comfortable living and to live without fear."
A spokesman for Catholic Charities said he couldn't comment on the specifics of the complaints. He did send News 12 Long Island a statement saying in part, "As recently as a month ago, Bishop Ryan Village was given an outstanding review by inspectors from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, receiving a grade of 94."
Tenants who spoke with News 12 disagreed with that assessment.
