Shots were fired at William Floyd High School Friday evening.
The incident occurred following a basketball game between William Floyd Mercy in Riverhead. Police say a teenage boy was shot in the leg, but did not suffer life-threatening injuries. According to school officials, bystanders helped the victim inside after the shooting. He was then taken to a local hospital.
School officials have confirmed the teenager is a student at William Floyd.
Witnesses say the gunshots were fired after a fight broke out. Amateur video caught the incident on camera. That footage shows the fighting that preceded the shots, followed by the scrambling of the crowd.
