A Brentwood teenager has made strides in his recovery after he was struck by a car earlier this year.
On Jan. 12, Donovan "Donny" Maldonado was hit by a car while walking home from school. He suffered severe head trauma, damaged organs and broken bones.
He returned to his home on Monday after months of rehabilitation and extensive surgery.
"It's a miracle," said mother Laura Maldonado. "The amount of progress he has made in this short period of time. [Doctors] are very hopeful that he will make a full recovery."
A fundraiser for Donny is set to be held Friday night at the Sonderling Center in Brentwood. So far, more than $27,000 has been raised from family, friends and the Brentwood community.
