Teen raises nearly $3,000 through virtual food drive with Island Harvest

With food insecurity skyrocketing on Long Island during the pandemic, one Old Field teenager took it upon himself to help nearly 6,000 people through a virtual food drive.

With food insecurity skyrocketing on Long Island during the pandemic, one Old Field teenager took it upon himself to help nearly 6,000 people through a virtual food drive. 
Jake Shangold, 18, is helping out those less fortunate during the pandemic by starting a virtual food drive with Island Harvest.
He handed out flyers everywhere in his community and spread the word on social media.
Shangold raised nearly $3,000 to help those in need of meals. 
Island Harvest said with the money Shangold raised, it will be able to help provide 6,000 meals for those in need.
