A teenager was killed and two other people were injured when the car they were riding in veered off the road and smashed into a West Babylon home.
Police say 19-year-old Aramis Broadus was driving a Nissan Maxima north on Little East Neck Road shortly before 9 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle. The car smashed into a telephone pole, and then plowed into a house.
Broadus and three other occupants of the vehicle were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. Police say one passenger, identified as 17-year-old Kenya Jiminez, was pronounced dead.
Two passengers suffered serious injuries. They have been identified as 20-year-old Robert Jones, of Deer Park, and 18-year-old Chyna Adams, also of Deer Park.
Broadus, of Wheatley Heights, was treated for minor injuries at the hospital and released.
The home that the car smashed into has been condemned due to the extensive damage it sustained. None of the occupants of the home were injured.
Neighbors say cars frequently speed down the road. There have been other accidents at the intersection in the past, including one that happened just two days ago.
Police say they do not believe alcohol or drugs factored in the crash, although the incident remains under investigation. Broadus has not been charged at this time.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
