Police say a young woman from Wyandanch was killed in an early morning crash in Wheatley Heights.
It happened at around 4:30 a.m. A 2002 Chevrolet Camaro was driving on Little East Neck Road by Colonial Springs Road when it veered off the road into a wooded area.
Police say 19-year-old Carla Flores, of Wyandanch, was pronounced dead at the scene. She had been a passenger in the back of the vehicle.
Two men were in the front seat, and have been identified 20-year-old Joseph Dunn, of Dix Hills, and 19-year-old Brandon Charles, of Wheatley Heights. Investigators say they are trying to determine who was driving, although Dunn is the owner of the car.
Dunn was hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, while Charles refused treatment for a minor injury.
The vehicle has been impounded for a safety check. Police are urging anyone with information to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
