A quick-thinking young man helped several families escape a raging fire at a row of townhouses in Suffolk early Friday morning.
Flames broke out at the Villages, a gated community in Melville, just after 2 a.m.
Nick Rozenbergh, 19, spotted the flames while he was on his way home from work and jumped into action.
"There were probably about eight families, probably about 20 people all together, and I got them out. They were fine," Rozenbergh says. "And I remember I went back in to try to help some guy get his cat."
Two townhouses were damaged by the flames, and two more sustained water damage.
Investigators say it's unclear what sparked the fire, but they say it doesn't appear intentional.
