Teen arrested for hitting elderly woman, leaving scene in Malverne
An elderly woman is in critical condition after being hit by a car that fled the scene in Malverne.
The 80-year-old victim was struck at the intersection of Franklin and Cornwell avenues, Nassau police say.
Matthew Calabrese, 19, of Malverne, hit the woman around 12 p.m. Sunday and drove away, according to police.
Calabrese was arrested a short time later.
The pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been released, is listed in critical condition.
The driver is scheduled to face a judge Monday for leaving the scene of an accident.
