A Hempstead teaching assistant is accused of pocketing money from the pre-K program.
The District Attorney's Office says Sirlentor Berry gave a local movie theater a check to pay for kids attending an event in January.
They say some of the kids were absent so the theater gave him a refund for over $1,000.
Investigators say he kept the cash and also tried to pocket another field trip refund.
Berry is charged with grand larceny.
