News 12 Long Island has learned a white science teacher is suing the Hempstead school district, claiming racial discrimination.
High school teacher Lynne Albuquerque says a student threatened to sexually assault her in May of last year.
Albuquerque's attorney says she reported the incident to the school administration, but the student was never reprimanded.
The suit claims Albuquerque then requested workers compensation for an "emotional injury."
The district denied the claim, and then began the process of terminating the teacher.
Albuquerque's attorney says she is still currently employed by the district, but has been suspended indefinitely.
