A Syosset woman and Holocaust survivor celebrated her 90th birthday on Sunday with a special visit.
Thea Pereira was reunited with Paula Majoor, who flew in from The Netherlands to be with her friend on her milestone birthday.
Pereira traveled between 15 different hiding places during World War II, one of which was Majoor's family attic. The two are not related but consider each other family.
"Running for your life it's not an easy thing," she said.
Majoor said her father simply found it normal to save people, leading them to rescue Pereira and her brother, along with their parents and several other relatives.
"I am forever grateful to the Majoor family," Pereira said.
