Syosset Schools Superintendent Dr. Carole Hankin has announced she is resigning.

The Syosset School Board voted last night to authorize Hankin's resignation, effective Oct. 31.

Hankin has been criticized by the governor and state comptroller for receiving a salary of more than $540,000.

Hankin is the second highest paid superintendent in the state.
