An elderly North Babylon woman was killed Tuesday when a driver under the influence struck her car head-on, Suffolk police said.
Anthony Ceparano, 39, of Holbrook, was high and engaged in a physical altercation with his 37-year-old girlfriend, Julie Crist, of Bayport, when his 2004 Hyundai crossed the median on Hubbards Path, police said. Police said Ceparano's car hit Rose Jarvis' 1995 Nissan about five blocks from her home. Jarvis, a mother of three and grandmother of seven, died from her injuries at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Ceparano was brought to Good Samaritan Hospital and Crist was transported to Southside Hospital. Their injuries were not considered serious, although they did stay overnight Tuesday for treatment.
Police did not release what drugs Ceparano was using at the time of the crash, nor what caused the fight between him and Crist. Ceparano was charged with driving while intoxicated.
