Suspect sought in gunpoint sexual assault in West Hempstead
Police are searching for the man who sexually assaulted a young woman at gunpoint in West Hempstead. Police say the incident happened as the 21-year-old woman walked on Terminal Road Tuesday at 4 a.m.

Police are searching for the man who sexually assaulted a young woman at gunpoint in West Hempstead.
Police say the incident happened as the 21-year-old woman walked on Terminal Road Tuesday at 4 a.m. Detective Lt. Richard LeBrun says the woman was outside of her car when a masked man approached her.
"At this point he approached her...displayed a weapon...forced his way into her car and had her drive to an undisclosed location where the sexual assault took place," says LeBrun.
Police say the man then fled the scene. Police have stepped up patrols in the area.
Business owners and residents say what happened is very alarming, and they hope the suspect is brought to justice.
