The man accused of shooting and critically injuring an NYPD officer in Queens Saturday is being held without bail.

According to police, 35-year-old Demetrius Blackwell shot Officer Brian Moore in the head near 104th Road and 212th Street in Queens Village. The shooting came after Moore and his partner witnessed Blackwell suspiciously adjusting his belt, police say.

Following a roughly 90-minute manhunt, Blackwell was arrested. The weapon he allegedly used has not been found.

Dozens of NYPD officers packed Queens County Criminal Court Sunday afternoon for Blackwell's arraignment. The suspect is charged with two counts of attempted murder of a police officer, aggravated assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Outside the courthouse, PBA President Patrick Lynch strongly condemned the shooting, saying that Moore "was gunned down by a miscreant who prides himself on being called 'hellraiser.'"

"He can raise hell in Rikers Island," Lynch continued. "But we'll make sure he never raises hell on the streets of New York City ever again."

Officials say Blackwell was wanted for another crime at the time of the shooting. News 12 is told that Blackwell had previously been arrested nine times.
