Avraham Melamed was an Olympic swimmer who was with the Israeli team as a reporter at the 1972 Munich Summer Games.
The 79-year-old remembers the terror attack that killed 11 of his fellow Israeli athletes and coaches.
Melamed spoke during a panel discussion at Temple Beth-El in Great Neck.
He drew parallels between the fighting in Israel today and the attack he experienced more than 50 years ago.
“Israel is under constant security and safety reality. It’s got to be constantly prepared for the worst,” Melamed says.
