A Suffolk transit bus crashed into a utility pole and a building in downtown Riverhead, injuring five people and knocking out power and phone lines, the town supervisor says.
The crash happened Friday afternoon at the intersection of Court Street and Griffing Avenue.
All five of the injuries are believed not to be life-threatening. There was a partial power outage at the nearby town hall building. Electricity has since been restored.
The Riverhead Police Department’s front desk phone line was also out of service. Residents wishing to call Riverhead Police are asked to dial 911.
