Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi formed a committee with the goal of ending homelessness by 2017 Thursday.
With an estimated 500 people in Nassau shelters, and hundreds more assumed on the streets, committee chair Marge Rogatz says building affordable housing will be crucial. Rogatz also says additional Section 8 residences will help make the goal achievable.
The 30-member committee has six months to work on the problem.
