U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi on Monday sent out a letter requesting a stamp commemorating a suffragette from Suffolk County.
On Nov. 5, 1918, Ida Bunce Sammis become one of the first women elected to the state Assembly.
Nov. 5 also signifies the first time women in New York state were allowed to vote.
The year 2020 will mark the 100th anniversary for women nationwide getting the right to vote.
