Nassau Executive Tom Suozzi is asking for a debate with Attorney General Eliot Spitzer as the two square off for the Democratic nomination for governor.
Experts consider Spitzer the clear front-runner for the nomination, but Suozzi says he thinks debates could make a big difference in his uphill battle. Suozzi says candidates have an obligation to voters to detail what needs to be done in the state and how they intends to accomplish those goals.
A Spitzer spokesperson says the attorney general has always said debates are a useful part of the political process and he will debate anyone that is on the primary ballot.
