Residents of Suffolk County are being urged to conserve water. 

This week's high temperatures have led to a drought alert, according to officials.

The Suffolk Water Authority is asking homeowners to change their sprinkler timers to between 9 p.m. and midnight instead of in the early morning. 

Residents are also being told to keep all non-essential water use like washing a car and filling decorative waterfalls to a minimum.
