Residents in nearly 20 Suffolk school districts voted Thursday against a multi-million dollar project for a new BOCES building.
Many residents say the high price tag wasn?t their main concern about the vote. Some voters say they weren?t properly informed about the vote. Others were angry there was only one polling station to vote at. One resident said it was unfair to have one voting site in Dix Hills, when there are several school districts on the East End.
Of the residents who did vote, 829 turned down the proposal. BOCES officials were hoping the $5.5 million project would get approved. According to BOCES officials, the old building has a leaky roof and bad floors.
