Some illegal and exotic pets were turned in to the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Saturday.
People surrendered copperhead snakes, a rattlesnake and a boa constrictor, which are all illegal to keep as pets.
They also took in a large iguana, which is not illegal to keep, but too big for its owner to properly care for.
The Suffolk SPCA says the event is used as a tool to stop potentially dangerous animals from being dumped in the wild.
"In a five day period of time we had like 10 alligators, and I'm not talking turned in, they were found here in various places in the county. You're talking about a risk, a serious risk to the public," says Suffolk County SPCA Chief Roy Gross.
Chief Gross says owners can arrange to surrender their illegal animals any time and there will be no charges if the animals are given up voluntarily.
He says the SPCA has collected more than 60 illegal reptiles and mammals since the amnesty events began in 2013.
