A Brentwood woman has been charged with animal cruelty after dogs were found living in deplorable conditions inside her home, including feces and crack cocaine. The dogs will now be put up for adoption at Islip Animal Shelter.
According to Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk SPCA, detectives charged Stacy Zimmer, 48, with multiple misdemeanor animal cruelty charges, alleging that Zimmer neglected two pit bull-type dogs in her care by failing to provide a safe and clean environment.
Detectives say the animals were found inside the house in filthy areas of garbage and feces. They say there were hundreds of dead flies, buckets of urine, and odor of ammonia and foul smells. Detectives also found crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
