Suffolk police: Woman driving drunk plunged Jeep into Nissequogue River

Detectives say 22-year-old Soffy Villa-Vargas was driving on Route 25A and Summerset Road when her car left the road around 2 a.m.

Suffolk police say a woman was driving drunk when she plunged a Jeep into the Nissequogue River in Smithtown early Sunday morning.

Detectives say 22-year-old Soffy Villa-Vargas was driving on Route 25A and Summerset Road when her car left the road around 2 a.m.

Police say the three passengers who were inside were not hurt.

Villa-Vargas, of Elmhurst, was charged with DWI.
