One or more burglars have struck eight homes in West Islip in the last month, Suffolk County police say.
Jean Landi says her family took a five-day trip for Thanksgiving and returned to find her home burglarized. The intruder or intruders took her husband's wedding ring and another ring that belonged to her.
Police say the burglaries could be part of a pattern, but police have released only two images related to the case.
Neighbors Jody Riback and Kelly DeCarlo say that they've been forced to buy security cameras.
"I barely get any sleep because of this," Riback says. "I watch out my windows 24/7, and I have two kids, and I'm nervous."
Another victim, who asked not to be shown on camera, tells News 12 cash and jewelry were stolen from his home on Nov. 4. He is urging other residents to be vigilant in the hope that someone will help police catch whoever is responsible.
