A Suffolk County police officer received a badge of honor Friday -- his slain father's shield.
It's been 17 years since the unsolved murder of narcotics Detective Dennis Wustenhoff. He was killed when his car was blown up outside his North Patchogue home.Wustenhoff's son received his father's police shield as part of the annual Police Memorial Service, which honors the 21 Suffolk County police officers who've died in the line of duty. Officer Kevin Wustenhoff will now carry his father's shield number.
