Suffolk police: Driver crashes into Huntington home, charged with DWI

First responders rescued a woman who was on the second floor of the home, according to authorities.

A driver who crashed into a home in Huntington early Saturday morning was charged with DWI among other charges.
Suffolk police say 33-year-old Matias Cruz, of Greenlawn, was drunk behind the wheel just after midnight when he slammed into a car on West 19th Street in Huntington Station.
A few minutes later, detectives say he hit a second vehicle on Oakwood Road and 11th Street in Huntington before crashing into the home on Green Street and then fled from the scene.
First responders rescued a woman who was on the second floor of the home, according to authorities.
Police say Cruz was later located and placed under arrest.
He and the woman inside the home were not injured in the crash.
Eyewitnesses said the collision caused a fire.
Neighbors told News 12 this is the second crash into the multifamily home within a year.
Cruz also faces charges of criminal mischief, reckless driving as others for the collision into the home.
