Suffolk County police arrested a Selden man on Sunday, Feb. 2, for allegedly burglarizing 9 businesses on Long Island dating back to last year.

The alleged four-month crime spree started on Nov. 27, 2024, and ended following an arrest on Sunday.

“Four months is a long time. I’m really glad they got him,” Stony Brook resident Christina Taborski said as she went into her class at Orange Theory Fitness, one of the affected businesses.

Sixth Precinct officers responded to a 911 call for a burglary at a Subway at 668 Middle Country Road in Selden, just before 10 a.m. Sunday. Officers said the suspect smashed the front glass window and stole cash from the register and coins from a donation jar.

Within an hour, police arrested Michael Parise, 49, on Middle Country Road in Coram.

During the investigation, police linked Parise to a total of nine similar burglaries and one attempted burglary over the last four months.

Investigators said in each instance, Parise broke an exterior door or window and stole cash.

According to police, he is also charged with the following burglaries:

  • Subway, located at 2350 Route 347, Stony Brook on November 27, 2024

  • Ssambap Korean BBQ, located at 2350 Route 347, Stony Brook on December 16, 2024

  • Orangetheory Fitness, located at 2306 Route 347, Stony Brook on December 24, 2024

  • Kimochi Bubble Tea, located at 237 Middle Country Road, Selden on January 31

  • Middle Country Animal Hospital, located at 644D Middle Country Road, Selden on February 2, 2025

Katie Blair, the Practice Manager at Middle Country Animal Hospital said Parise broke into the business Sunday morning during off-hours and stole a jar that was collecting donations for a Lake Grove-based cat rescue.

“I was up all night last night just uncomfortable and we were talking about it just before how you come in here and you think you’re safe at work and then you come in and now you feel completely exposed,” she said.

Parise is facing nine counts of third degree burglary. Police also charged Parise with one count of attempted burglary for allegedly damaging a door at Peking Chinese Kitchen at 640 Middle Country Road in Selden but failing to get inside on Feb. 2.

Police also charged him with petit larceny for allegedly stealing money from a donation box at a McDonald's at 2324 Route 347 in Stony Brook on Dec. 26, 2024.

Suffolk County police said this wasn’t Parise’s first time running this type of scheme.

Law enforcement confirms Parise was arrested for a string of similar burglaries four years ago.
