Suffolk PD: Officer hurt when patrol struck by car in Dix Hills; driver charged with DWI

Detectives say 57-year-old Jason Ligon, of Great Neck, crashed into the marked police car in the westbound lanes near Exit 50 of the Long Island Expressway around 10:30 p.m.

An officer was injured after Suffolk police say a drunk driver crashed into his cruiser Saturday night in Dix Hills.

Detectives say 57-year-old Jason Ligon, of Great Neck, crashed into the marked police car in the westbound lanes near Exit 50 of the Long Island Expressway around 10:30 p.m.

They say the officer who was struck was responding to another call.

He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officers arrested Ligon and charged him with driving while intoxicated.
