Suffolk County officials called on Gov. Kathy Hochul Tuesday to declare a state of emergency following Monday’s storm.
They say this will clear the path for funding to repair an estimated $75 million in damages on the North Shore.
A representative from the governor’s office tells News 12 they are assessing the damage, seeking to reach an undisclosed threshold needed to apply for federal funds.
News 12’s Kurt Semder spoke to homeowners who are in need of financial help following the storm.
