The first positive test for West Nile virus this season was found in Suffolk County.

County officials say the mosquito sample was collected in Nesconset on July 1.

Most people bitten by an infected mosquito will suffer mild or no symptoms. However, severe symptoms could include high fever, headache and more.

No human cases have been reported this season.
