A Suffolk County officer is in the hospital after his cruiser was hit.

Police tell News 12 Long Island the incident happened on the westbound side of the Long Island Expressway near exit 69 around 9 a.m.

According to officials, the officer was blocking the right lane because of an oil spill when an oncoming vehicle rear-ended the officer's car.

The officer and the driver of the vehicle that hit him were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The other diver was also ticketed.
