Suffolk County officials say the county is owed about $22 million in unpaid tickets.
Many of the them were issued by controversial red light cameras, and those outstanding tickets are the focus of a new push to collect.
Officials say the county plans to roll out a new amnesty program designed to encourage those who haven't paid up to do so by partially or fully waiving late fees.
The amnesty program will only apply to drivers who have one or two outstanding tickets, not repeat offenders.
Drivers who have already paid their red light camera tickets say the amnesty isn't fair to them.
