Suffolk County lawmakers passed a measure Tuesday to improve school bus safety.

The county legislature voted to opt into the state's new School Bus Photo Monitoring System.

The approval allows school districts to decide whether they want to install cameras on the arm of the bus stop signs.

It would catch drivers who speed past.

Nassau has already opted into the program.
